1. Sit in your new Toyota with all doors closed.
2. Turn the ignition key to the “On” position, then immediately turn it back to the “Off” position without starting the engine. Repeat this step within the next 5 seconds and remove your key from the ignition.
3. You now have 40 seconds to close and open the driver’s side door twice in a row.
Finally, insert and remove the key from the ignition one last time. This should trigger the remote programming mode. If it doesn’t happen, contact one of our service experts who can assist you effortlessly.
On newer Toyota models, you can open a Toyota key fob by pressing the button located at the bottom of it, allowing you to remove a hidden metal key. You’ll then uncover a slot specially designed to open the casing.
Insert the metal key and turn it clockwise until it opens.
Note that on older Toyota key fobs, you’ll need to find a household object such as a flat-blade screwdriver to insert into the notch located at the bottom of your key fob.
Most Toyota key fobs use a CR2032 battery.
1. Make sure the main lighting is set to the “door” option.
2. With the gear lever in the P position and all doors closed, insert the key into the ignition and turn it to start the vehicle.
3. Within 5 seconds, hold down the driver’s door lock button for 5 seconds.
4. The main indicator light will flash to indicate the mode in which the automatic locking function is being used.
5. To change modes, press the lock button until the indicator light flashes to indicate that the desired mode is active.One flash indicates mode 1: Shifting from the P position automatically locks all doors.Two flashes indicate mode 2: No automatic locking.
Three flashes indicate mode 3: Shifting from the P position automatically locks all doors, shifting to the P position automatically unlocks all doors.
Four flashes indicate mode 4: Shifting from the P position automatically locks all doors, shifting to the P position and removing the key automatically unlocks all doors.
